Information about how LexiCo uses cookies on our websites.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are used to remember settings, improve user experience and collect statistics.

LexiCo uses cookies in accordance with Norwegian law and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Types of cookies

We group our cookies into three categories. Only the last one requires consent:

2a. Necessary cookies

These are essential for the site to work. They are set without consent because the service cannot be delivered without them.

.AspNetCore.Identity.Application Session
Authentication and sign-in
.AspNetCore.Antiforgery Session
Security — protection against CSRF attacks
.AspNetCore.Session Session
Temporary state between page views, such as a form you are part-way through
cookie_consent 12 months
Stores your consent choice so the banner does not reappear on every visit

2b. Functional cookies

These remember your choices. They are set only when you actively pick a language, theme or currency — not by visiting alone.

.AspNetCore.Culture 12 months
Remembers your chosen language (Norwegian/English)
lexico_theme 12 months
Remembers your preferred colour theme (dark/light)
lexico_currency 12 months
Remembers your chosen display currency (NOK, DKK, SEK, USD, EUR)
LxActiveArea Session
Remembers which area you last worked in, so the menu opens in the same place (signed-in users only)

2c. Statistics

We measure traffic without cookies. Page views are counted on the server, and any user or company link is stored only as a one-way hash — we use neither Google Analytics nor any other third-party tracking tool.

lx_sid 12 months
The only statistics cookie we have. It links several page views to the same visit, and is set exclusively if you choose "Accept all" in the consent banner. If you choose "Necessary only" it is not set — and any cookie already set is deleted.

Third-party cookies

LexiCo sets no third-party cookies on lexico.no — none for advertising, tracking or analytics. You sign in with your own LexiCo account; sign-in via Google, Facebook or Microsoft has been removed from the site.

The only thing loaded from another server is the typefaces, and they come from Bunny Fonts in the EU precisely because that service neither sets cookies nor logs visitors. Payment takes place on Stripe's own pages — there Stripe's cookies and privacy policy apply, not ours.

Manage cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that this may affect the functionality of the website.

Your consent

On your first visit to lexico.no a consent banner appears with two choices: "Accept all" and "Necessary only". If you choose "Necessary only", no statistics cookie is set — you still get full access to the site.

Necessary cookies do not require consent, as they are required for the service to work. Functional cookies are set only when you actively choose a language, theme or currency.

You can change your mind at any time. The button below resets your choice and brings the banner back.

Changes

We may update this cookie policy as needed. For significant changes, you will be notified via the consent banner on the website.
